Welcomed to the Father’s Throne

“For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified” (Hebrews 10:14). He sat down after this because His work was complete. “For by one offering (that’s the cross) Jesus has perfected forever, those that are being sanctified.”

We are not going to be made perfect in the court of God when we get to heaven; we’ve already been perfected in our legal position or in the court of God, though we are being progressively sanctified in our daily lifestyle as we daily say yes to Jesus.

The reality of our legal position before God touches our heart more and more as we understand that we are legally sanctified, that we are already in the position of being accepted and enjoyed by God. We feed on the knowledge of this truth, as Jesus said in John 8:32, “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.” Our emotions begin feel more of the truths about the love of God.

God often first touches our mind giving us new understanding. We grasp more and more the glorious truth, “God, I have been made perfect in Your sight by the blood of Jesus!” Then the negative emotional patterns that hold us in bondage to shame and condemnation begin to be broken.

Our hearts need to grow in the understanding of the truth that we are always welcomed to the Father’s Throne because of the blood of Jesus alone. This truth doesn’t automatically go from our mind to our heart. Typically what happens is that people hear this truth, but then they stumble in an area of their life, and they respond from an old mindset or a wrong confession before God. They sometimes fall back into a negotiation mode. For example, they may conclude that they will not pray for the sick that day, because of the sin they stumbled into the week before. They give it a little time before they share their faith or pray over someone to be touched by the Lord

The Lord does not want our confidence to pray for the sick and lead someone to Jesus to be based on how good our week was. He wants our confidence based on the fact that there is no condemnation or no remembrance of the penalty of the sin between you and Him. We are to have confidence based on what Jesus did for us.

God desires that our hearts be impacted by the truths of His Word. First, the truth word instructs our mind. Next, the language of scriptural truths must get into our vocabulary before God. When we come to God in worship or prayer before God, we express our heart in a way that includes the truths of Scripture. When the themes and even the very words of Scripture get into our speech before God, it begins stirs, warms and awakens our heart.

Scripture does not change the way we live consistently until it goes from our minds to our mouth, then to our hearts. For example, we are to say, “Lord, it is written, I stand before You because of Your blood and love and salvation that has already been accomplished.” That is our legal position through the blood of Jesus shed for us.
